RWANDA

20 rokov od genocídy Igor Barilik je mladý slovenský právnik, ktorý v roku 2010 pôsobil na medzinárodnom tribunáli pre stíhanie genocídy v Rwande. Násilnosti, pri ktorých v priebehu troch mesiacov vyvraždili takmer milión ľudí, sa začali presne pred dvadsiatimi rokmi, 6. apríla 1994. Pri tejto príležitosti čitateľom Sme.sk prinášame časť Igorovho denníka opisujúceho jeden výnimočný týždeň v jeho práci – ten, ktorý strávil práve na miestach v Rwande, kde sa zločiny odohrali.

Na ceste sa zastavíme pri sídle biskupstva Kabgayi neďaleko mesta Gitarama. Hoci sme počas jazdy po vidieku minuli množstvo menších či väčších pamätných miest genocídy označených fialovými zástavami – oficiálnou farbou pripomienky na obete genocídy – katolíckej katedrále v Kabgayi sa nedostalo rovnakého označenia, pretože zločin spáchaný víťaznou povstaleckou armádou nezapadol do kontextu histórie genocídy Tutsiov.
